Augmentative Communication in Practice organised a Technology Discovery Day hosted by CALL Scotland on Saturday 13th March, 2010. It was aimed at adults and older teenagers who use, or could use, augmentative and alternative communication.
The Day provided people who use AAC with a chance to find out more about communication aids that are currently available; how to access computers; free computer software; making music and lots more. Lots of fun activities took place throughout the day, giving people lots of opportunities to meet other AAC users and make new friends. Some people were planning to attend the ISAAC Conference in Barcelona in July and used the opportunity to find out what it was like to attend an international conference from people who had been to ISAAC in the past.
Keeping in Touch by Facebook
Many of the people who attended the day wanted to be able to keep in touch with each other, and with other people who use AAC. A Facebook page has now been set up to help people keep in touch over the internet. The address is: http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#!/aac.scotland.
